Red Giant Software has released Holomatrix 1.0, a new After Effects plug-in designed to let you easily recreate holographic special effects with a few mouse clicks. The package—which features effects such as animated sci-fi holograms, ghosts, bad TV reception, and realistic digital signage—includes 30 presets and lets you control the look, timing, and placement of random effects.

Designed by After Effects experts Dan Ebberts and Aharon Rabinowitz, Holomatrix is available for $US99 ($A110).

“My inspiration for Holomatrix began years ago when I was working on a hologram tutorial. It was very simple, and I was never really happy with the end result,” said Aharon Rabinowitz, Director of Marketing at Red Giant Software. “The look I wanted required hours of setup work and animation time. But, thanks to Dan Ebberts and his coding skills, we’re now able to turn hours of work into seconds.”

Holomatrix is also available in a bundle with Digieffects Damage for $US149 ($A165). Digieffects Damage is a collection of four effects designed for post production professionals to help create a variety of digital and/or analog defects, errors, and artifacts in their footage. It supports Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, Autodesk Combustion, and Boris RED.

Holomatrix 1.0 requires an Intel Mac running OS X 10.5.8 or later and supports Adobe After Effects CS3 and CS4.
