Australian Mac users have access to the popular Net Nanny Web content filtering software for the first time after local software distributor Manaccom picked up the product to complement the long-available Windows version.

Designed by US firm ContentWatch to help parents protect their children from cyber bullies and internet predators, Net Nanny blocks and dynamically filters Web sites, instant messaging conversations, peer-to-peer networking, and more. Logs and alerts can be emailed to parents, allowing them to keep an eye on their childrens\\\’ online exposure even at a distance.

“Due to increased internet usage, cyber bullying is a growing concern for Australian families,\\\” Ian Mackay, deputy chairman of Manaccom, said in a statement. \\\”Children find they have very few avenues to escape from such behaviour. Net Nanny offers a simple, cost-effective solution to this growing problem.”

Net Nanny for Mac costs $49.95 and is available through retailers nationwide, or visit Manaccom\\\’s Web site for more information.
