With Lexar’s reputation for producing premium flash memory products it’s no surprise that it has applied its twist on this very congested product category.
The Echo ZX looks like a normal, albeit very small, memory stick. However, it ships with a handy piece of backup software that lets you automatically back your data up to the Echo ZX and a free cloud service called YuuWaa.
Installation of the Echo ZX and its software was straightforward. The EchoBackup software lets you either choose specific folders or types of files to backup. Although the initial backup takes a while depending on how much data you have, it operated quietly in the background and didn’t interfere with our work.
Using the Echo ZX as a regular storage device revealed reasonable performance with file copies to the device running at about 155Mbps – well within the theoretical limit of 480Mbps.
Macworld Australia’s buying advice.
The Lexar Echo ZX is a nifty device that makes backups simple and provides easy to carry storage capacity.
