Your Twitter timeline isn’t pulling your leg: iMessage is, in fact, not working for an unknown number of iOS and Mac users at the moment. And FaceTime has joined iMessage on Apple’s MIA list.
Apple’s support page confirms that some users are unable to access iMessage or place FaceTime calls. Apple says the outages are only affecting some users and promises that “normal service will be restored ASAP.” The outage began last night.
iMessage is a service within the Messages app for iOS 6 and Mountain Lion that lets you send text and picture messages over Wi-Fi using an iOS device or Mac. FaceTime is a video calling feature that works over Wi-Fi on the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac and on cellular connections on some iOS devices.
According to Apple’s support page, all services have been restored.
