The Express Checkout feature – previously only available to buyers using the web-based store – allows users to avoid going through the shopping cart system and instead just sign in with their Apple IDs to have their purchases billed to the credit card linked to their account.
Also new in Version 2.2 of the free iPhone/iPod touch app is an iPhone 4S-only feature that uses the phone’s GPS sensor to let an Apple staffer know when you’re approaching a bricks-and-mortar Apple Retail Store, so your products are ready for you by the time you arrive.
However, this feature does not seem to be available in the Australian version of the app – see screenshots below showing the US blurb (top) and the Australian one (bottom).
Standard features of the app allow Apple fans to buy the latest Apple products and accessories and have them delivered or reserved for pickup at a Retail Store.
You can also personalise iPads or iPods, order custom Mac configurations, track your orders and even make Genius Bar reservations and request help while in a Retail Store.
