3rd August, 2010: Just days after announcing the acquisition of AAPT’s Consumer Division, iiNet has hit yet another significant milestone – the sale of its 50,000th BoB™ unit.
Sales of iiNet’s BoB™ have far surpassed the company’s expectations, with households around Australia proudly using the all-in one home communications solution to connect their internet and phone.
“We’re very proud of BoB™ – you can literally plug him in and he’s ready to go, so taking advantage of the latest technology is really simple. This is a huge number of sales, considering BoB™ is yet to celebrate his first birthday,” says iiNet CEO Michael Malone.
BoB™ is more than just a modem or router; he’s completely fetchtv and National Broadband Network-ready and connects to multiple devices simultaneously (including both wired and wireless computers, entertainment platforms like X-Box and USB storage devices). You can even use him as a USB charger for your phone or MP3 player!
“Although BoBs have been selling like hotcakes, we’ve learnt to avoid making wild promises – the last one saw our Chief Technology Officer, Greg Bader, offer to walk naked across the Nullarbor Plain if iiNet’s Naked DSL sales hit the 30,000 mark. We’ve just passed 100,000, so hopefully he’s in good shape,” jokes Malone.
According to a Roy Morgan survey that was released on Friday, 89.9% of iiNet customers are happy with the provider (which was ranked Australia’s No. 2 ISP for satisfaction).
Roy Morgan mobiles and internet research director Andrew Braun said the high ranking was the result of meshing well-priced technically and innovative solutions with old-fashioned customer service.
“We think our latest milestone backs-up Mr. Braun’s comments – BoB™ is certainly a one-of-a-kind product and our outstanding customer service has always been a focus for us,” concludes Malone.
