Orangutans have been going ape with Apple’s iPad, with keepers at Miami’s Jungle Island Zoo using the iPads to communicate with the orangutans.

Keepers have been teaching six orangutans how to draw and paint on Apple’s iPad touchscreen.

The keepers use an iPad app designed to help autistic children learn, getting the orangutans to identify symbols and objects on the screen.

‘We’ll ask them to identify ‘Where’s the coconut?’, and they’ll point it out,’ Linda Jacobs, one of the keepers.
