OS X, iOS, updates, macworld australiaApple pushed out OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 and iOS 8.1.3 overnight to fix a few annoying bugs on Macs, iPhones and iPads.

For Yosemite users, 10.10.2 might finally fix the sluggish Wi-Fi issues that 10.10.1 also promised to fix, but didn’t. Updating to 10.10.2 will also improve iCloud Drive and VoiceOver, and keep Spotlight from grabbing remote email content in search when you specifically told it not to.

The funniest fix for iOS 8: “Reduces the amount of storage required to perform a software update.” If you were waiting to upgrade from 7 to 8 because your phone didn’t have enough space, now may finally be the time to get on board.

The update will also fix a glitch that kept users from entering their Apple ID password for Messages and FaceTime and another that prevented multitasking gestures on the iPad.

Full list of 10.10.2 improvements:

  • Resolves an issue that may cause Wi-Fi to disconnect
  • Resolves an issue that may cause web pages to load slowly
  • Fixes an issue that caused Spotlight to load remote email content when the preference was disabled in Mail
  • Improves audio and video sync when using Bluetooth headphones
  • Adds the ability to browse iCloud Drive in Time Machine
  • Improves VoiceOver speech performance
  • Resolves an issue that causes VoiceOver to echo characters when entering text on a web page
  • Addresses an issue that may cause the input method to switch languages unexpectedly
  • Improves stability and security in Safari

And iOS 8.1.3’s fixes:

  • Reduces the amount of storage required to perform a software update
  • Fixes an issue that prevented some users from entering their Apple ID password for Messages and FaceTime
  • Addresses an issue that caused Spotlight to stop displaying app results
  • Fixes an issue which prevented multitasking gestures from working on iPad
  • Adds new configuration options for education standardised testing

OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 is available for download in the Mac App Store. iOS 8.1.3 is available as an over-the-air update for your device in Settings > Software Update.
