An analyst has predicted that Apple has sold two million iPad minis since its launch last week.

Apple on Monday announced that it had sold three million iPads during the three days since the launch of the iPad mini and iPad 4, but the company didn’t specify separate numbers for the two devices.

“We estimate that two-thirds, or 2 million plus, of the units [were] iPad minis,” analyst Brian Marshall from ISI Group said in a note to clients.

Marshall predicts that Apple will sell a total of five million iPad mini units this quarter, aided by the release of the Wi-Fi plus 4G models which are set to arrive within the next few weeks, although no specific date has been announced yet.

Research has found that Apple has sold out of 16GB iPad mini models in most stores, and there is limited stock of the 32GB and 64GB models left. Many customers who pre-ordered the iPad mini have been left waiting, as Apple works to meet the demand for the device.
