Apple is apparently set to build in support for Twitter in its next iPhone operating system, iOS 5, which is set to launch at the company’s Worldwide Developer Conference next week.

According to blog MaCNN, Twitter’s recent decision to launch its own photo service may in fact be designed to allow users to share photographs directly from an iPhone in much the same way users can now share content on MobileMe and YouTube. The move would allow Twitter and Apple to manage the way photographs are uploaded and stored, instead of relying on a third-party service such as Twitpic or yFrog that neither organisation controls.

Twitter is also reportedly planning to begin using Amazon’s S3 data hosting service to deal with the massive increase in traffic that would undoubtedly stem from any integration with Apple.

In any case, more details will be revealed in Steve Jobs’ keynote address from WWDC on Tuesday.
