Ticketek has launched a new app for iPhone and iPod touch in Australia and New Zealand today, offering a mobile platform for concertgoers to browse events, purchase tickets and share event experiences with friends.

The new Ticketek app joins the company’s growing suite of mobile offerings, including a mobile site and mobile tickets which support Apple’s Passbook application on iOS 6.

Face in the crowd. Ticketek's new Friend Spotter technology lets you find other Facebook contacts at the same event.

Featuring a What’s On guide, the app uses location services to display a calendar of events happening nearby, in addition to Ticketek’s mCommerce platform where customers can buy tickets to events from their iPhone and have mobile tickets added to a personal ‘Ticket Wallet’ within the app.

Ticketek also has a built-in social sharing feature called Friend Spotter that uses augmented reality technology to enable Facebook friends to locate each other at an event using the iPhone camera view finder.

“This app is about making ticketing more streamlined and convenient for our customers, while providing the tools to enhance their event experience,” Managing Director of Ticketek Australia Cameron Hoy says.

“We are seeing a rapid shift in the way customers purchase tickets, with close to 30 percent of our digital traffic coming through the mobile platform. Mobile is the future in this industry, and our new app extends our existing market-leading mobile platform to create a more engaged experience for fans.”

The Ticketek app is available for free on the App Store. For more information on Ticketek’s mobile platform, visit www.ticketek.com.au/mobile.
