If you didn’t already think tablets were trying to take over the world, you will now that you know Telstra is the latest company to announce an ‘iPad competitor’. Dubbed the alliterative ‘T-Touch Tab’, the device will run Google’s Android OS, and is due to arrive in November.

According to Telstra, The T-Touch Tab will feature a 7in screen, but aside from that, there are few details on the hardware front. Telstra is rather looking to emphasise its abilities – including being able to run Flash ‘for a superior web browsing experience’.

“Telstra will have at least two Next G mobile tablets in market by Christmas” said Telstra director of mobility products Richard Fink. “A mobile tablet for the premium market and a more affordable tablet for families and young adults.” It’s unclear how these two products will vary in terms of hardware.

There’s not a lot more information at this stage, but you can be sure that they’ll come with a competitive price tag – so long as you’re happy to sign up for a 24 month data contract.

We’ll keep you updated as more details come to hand. In the meantime, you can sign up for more information on the T-Touch Tab site.
