Telstra has launched the Ultimate Gateway – a device that can turn a single Telstra Mobile Boradband service into a portable Wi-Fi and Ethernet hotspot.

The Ultimate Gateway was developed by NetComm in Australia and is targeted for business customers who require portable internet access.

Anthea Roberts, Director, Telstra Mobile Broadband, says the Ultimate Gateway helps local businesses to transact from temporary or mobile work sites.

“The Ultimate Gateway is the fastest mobile gateway device in Australia and allows businesses to connect teams or multiple Wi-Fi-enabled devices wherever there is Next G network coverage and power. Customers can connect up to 16 wireless and four wired devices to the net. This makes it incredibly simple to establish internet-powered networks at temporary office locations, conferences, tradeshows, construction sites or when on the road.”

The Ultimate Gateway integrates four internal antennas with download speeds ranging from 1.1Mbps to 20Mbps in Telstra 3G Dual Channel HSPA+ enabled coverage areas. In remaining metropolitan and other selected regional areas the Ultimate Gateway download speeds will run anywhere between 550kbps to 8Mbps, while in other coverage areas users can expect a speed range of 550kbps to 3Mbps. The Telstra Ultimate Gateway supports fast Wi-Fi n connectivity (as well as Wi-Fi b and g) for maximum Wi-Fi performance and security and has two in-built USB 2.0 ports for shared access to peripherals like a printer or storage device,

The Gateway is available now from Telstra outlets. A range of plans are available to business customers and can also be bought outright for $399.
