ABC News reports that Eric Schmidt, the outgoing CEO of Google, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will also be in attendance.
The meeting will see business leaders from many different industry sectors meet with the US President, according to a source quoted in the article.
“The president and the business leaders will discuss our shared goal of promoting American innovation, and discuss his commitment to new investments in research and development, education and clean energy,” a White House official told ABC.
Jobs is currently on a medical leave of absence from Apple though recent reports suggest that Jobs still has his hands firmly on the tiller. Tim Cook, Apple’s COO, is taking care of day-to-day business in Jobs’ place.
However, tabloid rumours about the state of Jobs health have been circulating this week – The National Enquirer published pictures of Jobs looking “emaciated” in its most recent issue, along with speculation about Jobs’ weight loss.
The Daily Mail picked up on the article and is re-reporting the news, focusing on claims that Jobs may have just “weeks to live”. Apple hasn’t commented on the matter.
