A 12-year-old boy was on the receiving end of some rather foul language when he tried out an iPhone 4S in a Tesco store in the UK, according to a report.

The Sun claims that the lad was told: “Shut the f*** up, you ugly t***.

Charlie le Quesne had merely asked the handset, a demo model in Tesco’s Coventry store, how many people there were in the world, according to the report.

However, as pranksters had tampered with the phone – setting the owner’s name in as ‘Shut the f*** up, you ugly t***,’ – after it had told him the answer, it launched into the foul-mouthed tirade.

Charlie’s mum Kim, was less than impressed. “The phone was a demo version and was low enough on the shelf for Charlie to have a go with it. He asked it a simple question and we couldn’t believe the filth it came out with. I thought I must be hearing things. So we asked again and the same four-letter stuff blared out,” she told The Sun.

Tesco promised to investigate, while Apple hasn’t commented on the matter.

I am sure he will learn that in the playground at school, come to think of it, I get told that frequently :)

  2. Nigel says:

Why should Apple comment. It was a ‘user’ playing with settings. This is stupid.

  3. Chris Oaten says:

Oh great… now your story just explained how it was done, I expect there’ll be a bunch of copycats playing the same prank.

  4. Bill says:

That’s like blaming a tape recorder for having abuse recorded on it. Nothing to do with Siri actually, just sensationalism.

  5. Nick says:

I thought better of Macworld than to take part in this sort of media.

  6. Chris Oaten says:

    So did I, Nick.

  7. Matt says:

Aww come on MacWorld! Leading with this rubbish!?! Not only trivial but bordering on the misleading. More “News of the World” than MacWorld! I only opened the link as I generally open them all for a quick read.

  8. Lynette Nacci says:

Good justification. I prefer to read it IMDB
