Finally, local stations are releasing their streaming TV apps to the new Apple TV App Store.

Last week, SBS quietly released their SBS On Demand app to the Apple TV App Store. According to a recent tweet by SBS personality Marc Fennell, the new service contains about “a bazillion” movies for streaming. I’m not quite sure what that actually means but I suspect it’s a lot!.

The Seven Network has also released their 7Plus app for Apple TV so you can catch up on favourite TV shows straight from your Apple TV.

There’s nothing official from the other networks but I’m looking forward to the day when I can abandon my terrestrial TV connection completely and watch what i want, when I want from any network.

In the mean time, all the other networks have iOS apps so you can stream them to your Apple TV over AirPlay. Or, if your budget sons;t stretch that far, many streaming video apps have support for Google’s ChromeCast which does a great job with streaming video from your iOS device or Mac to your TV at a fraction of the Apple TV’s cost.
