Conflicting with previous reports that Apple would avoid a Retina display in its second-generation iPad mini, sources for the Wall Street Journal believe Apple will “likely feature a high-resolution screen from Samsung”.
The report claims the new tablets display will most likely remain at 7.9in but the back cover may change from the black or silver options of the current, November-released model to colour options – in a similar manner to the rumoured budget iPhone.
“Apple is working with suppliers in Asia on its next iPad mini with a high-resolution ‘retina’ display, unlike the current iPad mini that comes with a lower-resolution screen,” WSJ said.
“The size of the new tablet will likely be the same as the current 7.9-inch model, which was released in November last year. Apple has also been contemplating multiple color back covers for the new tablet.”
Earlier today, rumours began surfacing that the latest iOS 7 beta contained evidence a A6-powered iPad mini was being developed and the next-generation iOS devices will include fingerprint scanners.
