Apple.pro has scanned and translated the newspaper’s report, which claims Apple’s September-bound iPhone will measure 1.7mm thinner than its predecessor at 7.6mm.
After measuring an iPhone 5 enclosure, the report concludes iPhone’s height will increase by 8.3mm to 123.8mm in order to account for a larger display, however the smartphone’s width will remain at 58.6mm.
While the report is unsubstantiated, patents granted to Apple in May suggested the use of in-cell display technology and the integration of a new battery design that could enable Apple to reduce the width of its devices by 1.4mm.
Apple’s iPhone 5 is expected to be announced on September 12, with the smartphone on sale nine days later. Click here for a rundown on the iPhone 5 rumours and reports.
