News – an Australian industry-owned property portal – has launched an iPhone app following results from a national survey conducted to learn more about the house-hunting behaviour of over 2,000 participants.

The app – a free download – helps to keep prospective home owners on top of the property market by providing date listings, sales, auction results and median prices. offers daily updates and can also be used as a personal planner, enabling users to ‘check in’ to properties to easily keep track of viewed properties and plan upcoming inspections.

The app was created on the back of a national survey of over 2000 Australians that revealed 50 percent of respondants still use pen and paper to organise and manage their house-hunting endeavours.

In addition, over a third of prospective buyers print out properties and 10 percent cited looking at newspapers, walking around suburbs or liaising with real estate agents to locate houses for sale. says their download fits a niche in the property market and utilises smartphone capabilities, allowing for portable and updated information, no matter the time or location of its user.

An Android version of the app is expected for release next month.
