Pause Fest (November 7 – 13) 2011 is Melbourne’s first digital festival showcasing a variety of installations and performances from local digital artists and industry leaders in and around the CBD. In conjunction, SoundCloud is offering a soundmapping app for smartphone users to download and participate in the event, no matter their location.

The week-long festival commences with a series of small events, exhibitions, projections, open studios, installations, product launches and interactive projects dispersed through the city, culminating in a final exhibition event where visual artists, agency show reels and business opportunities will share centre-stage.

For those not in Melbourne, SoundCloud has an app that lets you join in the festivities. Download the SoundCloud app (free) to your smartphone, map the location, record a sound and you’ll be part of this global event.

Some of the exhibits in Melbourne include an interactive projection mapping on show at the Melbourne Central Tower.

Also on offer is a Pro-Pause session featuring collaborative projects including feature film Made by People by Damian Dunne; Everything is a Remix by Kirby Ferguson; short animations by Liu Song and Andrés Barrientos and Bare Bones’ collection of short films.
