Parallels receives Retina upgrade

Parallels Desktop 7 and Parallels Mobile were upgraded to support Retina display MacBook Pros and third-generation iPads yesterday.

Parallels computing software enables users to run multiple operating systems on the single Mac computer, including Windows 8 Release Preview, Windows 7, Chrome and Ubuntu, while its iOS software lets users control a computer remotely from mobile devices.

“We are proud to announce that both Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac and Parallels Mobile have been updated to support Apple’s Retina display and it’s over 5 million pixels on the newly released MacBooks and latest iPad,” Parallels’ blog outlined.

Parallels Desktop for Mac, available for $89.95, will support the upcoming releases’ of Apple’s OS X Mountain Lion and Microsoft Windows 8, set to launch later this year.

Parallels Mobile is available for iPhone and iPad for $5.49 via the App Store.
