A collection of wise, witty and fearless stories told by remarkable women has bound the digital ‘pages’ of Open Field – an Australian iPad magazine celebrating the strength of women and giving back to the cause with a charitable initiative.

Open Field, published annually, showcases the creative work of 28 women who share personal life-changing and transformative moments – some of the stories are written, others visual. From meeting nuns in Israel to creating Afghan Idol, from a summer without speech to a life sans cigarettes, each contribution has its own unique voice, a trait the publication believes all women possess.

This year’s edition features contributions from high-profile names including actor Claudia Karvan,
writers Fatima Bhutt and Anne Summers, musician Sally Seltmann,
New Yorker cartoonist Liza Donnelly, artist Lucy McRae and many more.

Open offering: Musician Sally Seltman presents the Wonder Of Others – an insightful interview in Open Field about who and what inspires her.

All money raised from the sale of Open Field will be donated to CARE, an Australian charity and international humanitarian organisation that aids programs fighting poverty and empowering women to make changes and increase sustainability within their communities.

Open Field was inspired by the moment we learned that when you donate money to a woman in a developing country you affect the lives of everyone around her,” says publisher The Royals.

The funds raised from the sale of one publication won’t solve the world’s ills, but we believe this is a good way to collect money for a charity with a proven track record. Also, we hope the very existence of Open Field will spark interest and raise awareness of CARE’s work”.

Editor Kirsten Alexander is equally enthused about the project and the cause it is supporting:

‘We hope readers enjoy the content, and the joy of guilt-free spending, knowing that the money they spend not only buys a quality publication but contributes to bettering the life of another person.’

Open Field can be downloaded from the App Store for $8.49. Issue 2 will be available in March 2013. For more information on the publication go to
