It seems only fair that the company is allowed some time off during the holiday period to be jolly, but if you’re hoping for some brand-new iOS apps to lift your festive mood over the holidays then we’re afraid you’re in for a disappointment.
In an email to Apple registered developers: Subject – “iTunes Connect: Holiday Shutdown,” Apple’s stated that access to iTunes Connect will be switched off and delivery of any apps or updates to the App Store will be ignored until the Apple reviewing team return on 30th December. No new iPhone apps or iPad apps will be reviewed, approved or made available in the space between 22nd December and December 29th.
Apple added: “We strongly recommend that you do not schedule pricing changes through the interval pricing system in iTunes Connect that would take effect from December 22 through December 29,” stating that any changes made won’t be reflected in the App Store and, alarmingly, that “the app will become unavailable for purchase.”
So if Santa brings you a new iPhone or iPad this Christmas, you’ll be limited to installing apps that were released before 22nd December and you won’t be able to download anything brand new until 2012.
