Following on from claims that Apple’s new thinner iMac is delayed and will not ship before Christmas, today reports are suggesting that the new all-in-ones are still on track for the November launch of the 21in iMac, and the December launch of the 27in version.

There had been suggestions that the new 21in iMac could launch before Thursday this week – Thursday is Thanksgiving in the US and the following day, Black Friday, is a big day for sales that generally mark the beginning of the holiday shopping season there.

9to5 Mac is claiming its sources say that Apple is already shipping the 21.5in iMacs to its distribution hubs.

The sources suggest that although the 27in model won’t be available until December, it will be available to pre-order online at the same time as the 21in version goes on sale.

I’ve pretty much given up waiting. The old imacs were dropped from the site right after the keynote, so NO imacs have been available on their site for around two months now. Shows where their priorities are.

And don’t get me started on the stupidity of a super-thin, difficult/impossible to upgrade desktop with no CD/DVD drive. Apple’s pursuit of thin and light has become a neurosis.
