Stop the presses*! Redesigned MacBook Pros are on the production line right now, with a launch date expected within the next two weeks.

The of the updated MacBook Pros would have been earlier but for the widely-reported design flaw in Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors, pushing the release back to an expected March 1, according to AppleInsider. The site says it’s confirmed reports from multiple sources ‘familiar to the matter’ that Apple is indeed planning the rumoured launch.

The blog also reports that Intel’s latest processor won’t be the only improvement in the new notebooks, with significant new Apple-designed features to be included. What they’re likely to be, nobody knows, although there’s been talk of solid state drives, mini-HDMI, a retina screen and the removal of the optical drive.

Excited much?

*Yes, we still have presses

  3. Laith says:

I could see the dropping of the DVD drive because of the App Store and SD card slot, but then there should be a quick and easy way to rip DVDs into iTunes for playback on the road. HandBreak is great, but it doesn’t do menus, (etc), and I still have a large DVD collection.
