Apple’s rumoured iPad mini, expected to launch in October, has been previewed early, according to a series of leaked images posted online claiming to be of the new device.
The top image is very similar to a report last month, describing the tablet’s design as a larger iPod touch with smaller side bezels and separated volume buttons on the side of the device.
The second set of images appear to capture a metal prototype of the device, complete with the rumoured smaller dock connector and speaker layout at the base, and a centralised FaceTime camera at the top of the tablet.
The images are unverified, however according to Giga.de – who published the images – the prototype was found at the IFA 2012 technology show currently taking place in Berlin and “was probably used for the development of iPad mini sleeves”.
The pictured ‘iPad mini’ prototype is thinner than the iPhone 4S placed next to it and appears to be fitted with a smart cover.
