It seems that plans are underway to open an Apple Concept Store at the Broadway Shopping Centre on Bay St, Glebe in New South Wales.
Multiple retailers have been in contact with Macworld Australia today with news of the impending development. We’ve also seen excerpts of signed documentation –that we believe is genuine– and building plans outlining the proposed development.
While there are increasingly more Apple Concept Stores opening up around Australia, this one may cause some controversy because of its location; the store will be positioned close to Apple reseller Next Byte.
Broadway Shopping Centre: According to our sources the new Apple Concept Store will be located in shops 305 – 307 in the complex
Macworld Australia contacted the City of Sydney council to verify the proposal, but a representative could not confirm the application had been lodged. Andrew Martin Planning – a consultancy firm named as part of the development could not be reached for comment. Vic Lilli & Partners–the building company purportedly in charge of the construction– are yet to respond to our request for comment.
If this proposal goes ahead, it begs the question – what will happen to the Next Byte Store?
