New App Store sale, email campaign signal Apple’s productivity push

App-Store-price-increase-macworld-australiaThis week Apple has launched a new email ad campaign, emphasising the productivity capabilities of the iPad. The campaign reflects a theme of productivity from Apple as 20 productivity apps went on sale in the iOS App Store on Friday.

MacRumors reports that the new email campaign focuses on the iPad and highlights the features of a number of first-party apps such as the iWork app suite that includes Pages, Numbers and Keynote – free with new iPad purchases. While advertising its own products, the Apple email also promotes the newest version of Microsoft Office apps – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint – which were released in March.

The Microsoft Office apps have always been very popular among iPad, Mac and MacBook users alike. AppleInsider reported that the three Office apps reached a combined 27 million downloads in the first 46 days after the latest March release.

This email promotion comes just days after Apple created a feature titled ‘Amazing Productivity Apps’ in the iOS App store, listing 20 heavily discounted apps from productivity, utilities and business categories.

The sale reportedly ends on August 14, so time is running out to take advantage of the generous discounts.

The 20 apps are discounted by a minimum of 50 percent and are listed as follows:
