Each month, Netflix publishes its ISP Speed Index. It lists the average prime time bitrate for Netflix content streamed to Netflix members during a particular month. Prime time is the peak three hours of Netflix streaming on a daily basis per ISP.
Smaller ISPs are excluded from the survey as Netflix cannot record accurate bitrates and streaming over those netwroks.
For the seven ISPs that Netflix was able to report on, TPG, Optus and iiNet topped the rankings, That’s not surprising as both iiNet and Optus have made deals so Netflix has installed specialised equipment on their networks in order to optimise the customer experience.
Telstra ranked at the bottom of the list.
