The rumour mill is in overdrive following reports that iPad and Android tablet users could have access to  Microsoft Office via their devices by November this year.

According to website Boy Genius Report, a “reliable source” has confirmed the news, revealing that Microsoft is planning to release its suite of Office apps for the Apple iPad and Android tablets at the same time later in the year.

The same source also claimed that they had seen the iOS version run first-hand on the iPad, and noted that the app’s main screen titile, ‘Office for iOS’ indicated that the program could also be available on the iPhone and iPod touch.

Earlier this year The Daily ran with a similar story and image (pictured below) claiming that an Office app for iPad was in the works – a report which Microsoft flatly denied at the time.

Microsoft is yet to respond to BGR’s recent report. What do you think? Is ‘Office for iOS’ likely to launch this year? And what features would you like to see included? Sound off in the comments section below.

i somehow doubt this is true especially given the imminent launch of win8 on tablet devices. Nevertheless, with several ios and android devices in the house, it would be handy.
