Want to get straight onto eating up your new 3G data service as soon as you get your hands on an iPad this Friday? Then you’re in luck, as APC is reporting that Telstra Micro-SIMs (for the iPad) will go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday 25 May, and Optus will follow with its available on Wednesday 26 May.
Both Optus and Telstra have pre-paid starter kits that will set you back $30, and include 1GB with Telstra or 3GB (2GB + 1GB bonus) with Optus. Full details of their plans are available here.
Of course, we still haven’t heard from Vodafone, Three or Virgin, so you may want to hold onto your pennies in case any of these other telcos have a late announcement that might blow the big guys out of the water. APC is suggesting that Vodafone and Three might make an announcement tomorrow.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, and haven’t yet heard the iPad goes on sale this Friday, 28 May. (Surely you’ve seen one of the hundreds of posters in bus stops around the country?) Apple has not yet announced whether the release will be at the normal opening time for its retail stores, or whether they will launch in the evening, as was the case with the US launch.
And in case you’re thinking of sitting the launch out, but still want to get yourself an iPad, then I hope you’ve ordered already. The online Apple Store is now showing a delivery of some time in June for new iPad orders. That could be a long wait.
