The digital online music service Spotify have published their Year in Review 2013, with the service’s 24 million users determining which artists, songs and albums are the most streamed ones worldwide.

The most voted artists globally in this review are Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. They came first in the four categories: most streamed artists, most streamed males, most streamed album and also most streamed song with “Can’t hold us”.

“Congratulations to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis who achieved incredible success in 2013, and to Rihanna who is again crowned the Queen of Pop,” said Steve Savoca, Head of Content at Spotify.

It was the second year in a row Rihanna was given the most streamed female award, followed by Lana Del Rey and Pink.

The seventeen-year-old newcomer, Lorde, from NewZealand, is the most viral new artist even though her catchy song “Royals” did not make it under the top 10 most streamed tracks of 2013.

Her song became third in the most streamed tracks of 2013 in Australia though.

“It’s also amazing to see young artists like Lorde, becoming sensations almost overnight, She’s a truly thrilling discovery for Spotify users and will help to re-shape the pop music landscape,” Steve Savoca said.

In Australia, Daft Punk were the most streamed artists in 2013 and their song “Get Lucky” was the most streamed track. Furthermore they created the most viral track, meaning they had the most streams in one day on their song.
