LogMeIn updates iPhone, iPad apps

Remote desktop client LogMeIn has updated its apps for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users.

The LogMeIn Ignition updates significantly improve the usability of the apps, which allow desktop and laptop computers to be controlled by Apple’s mobile devices.

LogMeIn Ignition 1.1.170 adds the ability to interact with remote computers as if they natively supported a touch screen interface. New direct mode navigation allows users to simply tap the screen for easy navigation and interact with remote computers as if they were native multi-touch apps.

The update also supports gesture-triggered swiping to more easily switch between multiple monitors, as well as new in-app search for quickly locating and connecting to a specific computer.

“Our large user base continues to send us great feedback on how they’re using LogMeIn Ignition and the iPad to remain connected and productive while on the go,” said Andrew Burton, LogMeIn’s vice president, Access & Management. “The usability enhancements in this update come as a direct result of this feedback.”

“As we look to consistently improve and advance the remote access user experience on the iPad, iPhone and other popular mobile device platforms, we’ll continue to introduce additional enhancements and new features to support our users.”

Available from the App Store, LogMeIn Ignition costs $36.99 and requires the iPhone 3.0 Software Update or later. The updates are free to existing LogMeIn Ignition users.
