With Australia Day just around the corner, there’s a new iOS app to help Aussie shoppers keep it patriotic. Buy Australian is a new free app helps users figure out which products in your supermarket are produced locally.

Created by The Slattery Media Group, developers of Handmade in Melbourne, Buy Australian features over 10,000 products and a ‘virtual shopping strip’ that allows shoppers to see ‘which products are true blue.’ There’re also regular competitions with prizes of homegrown products (naturally).

Gizmodo reckons that while the app looks pretty and has a wealth of information, it’s a little on the sluggish side. But, for those iOS users who’re into supporting Australian business, or even those conscious of food miles, Buy Australian could be the app for them.

Buy Australian is available over iTunes, and it’s free
