NCsoft has announced the release of two new updates to Lineage, its long-running massively multiplayer online game for Mac OS X and Windows. Lineage and its new expansion packs are available for download from the NCsoft Web site. Lineage can be downloaded for $US9.99 ($A16); after seven days, players must pay $US15 ($A24) per month to play the game.

As Apple promised in early October, the company has posted an updated Software Developer Kit (SDK) Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) which allows iPhone application developers to more openly discuss their development plans. In order to facilitate such discussion, Apple has also opened a forum especially for iPhone developers.

In a rare move, Apple has publicly thrown its hat into the political ring. A post on the company’s Hot News page says that Apple is publicly opposing California’s Proposition 8, a ballot initiative that would ban marriage for same-sex couples. The proposition appears on the California ballot for the November 4th election.

Apple’s not the only one whose earnings have been buoyed by strong iPhone consumer adoption. AT&T reported its third fiscal quarter earnings on Wednesday, recording consolidated revenues of $US31.3 billion, up 4.0 percent year over year. AT&T is Apple’s cell service partner in the United States.
