Apple’s next iPhone, dubbed iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, could be available in three different screen sizes, with up to eight different colour options, an analyst has predicted.

Topeka Capital analyst Brian White wrote in a research report on Wednesday that “checks are pointing to more choices on the way with the next iPhone,” including more colour options and screen sizes. “By providing customers with greater choices with the same high quality performance of the iPhone, we believe Apple has the potential to further expand its market share in the rapidly expanding smartphone world,” he said.

White expects that the iPhone 6 will launch in May or June of this year, and will follow the iPod touch’s example by introducing up to eight new colour options. The latest iPod touch is available in pink, yellow, blue, white and silver, and black and slate. “Also, the iPod family participates in the ‘red’ campaign with red-coloured iPods,” he added.

White also predicts that the iPad will be available in multiple colours in the future.

“Our checks are also indicating that the next iPhone will offer customers more choice in terms of screen size,” White continued. “Although Apple offers a 4in screen on the iPhone 5 and a 3.5in screen on the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4, the company has never offered multiple screen sizes for a single model.”

“We believe this is about to change with the next iPhone offering different screen sizes that we believe will allow Apple to better bifurcate the market and expand its reach,” wrote White. “This eventually opens up the possibility for a lower-priced iPhone (i.e., iPhone mini) with a smaller screen size that could allow Apple to further penetrate markets such as China and open up opportunities in India. At the same time, Apple could unveil a larger screen size compared to the recently updated 4in screen on the iPhone 5. Clearly, there are many smartphone models that are now larger than 4 inches and even some bigger than five inches on the market.”

Other speculation has also pointed to an autumn launch for Apple’s next iPhone, as the company is believed to be moving to a biannual product cycle.

over the years, my iphones have lived in a case in my pocket. I also can’t say i have ever noticed the colour of someones phone. maybe if i held the back of the phone up to my eyes instead of the screen or to my ear, the plastic colour might make the an infinitesimal difference. as it is, it doesn’t. choice of phone size might be good for some though.

The only thing that the Samsung people has got on AAPL is the screen size. My last trip to Asia revealed this. The ladies absolutely loved the big screen because they could surf the web or watch tv on public transportation. Samsung has other gimmicks but they overall have an inferior product (when you think about it, their screen is a bit blue, and not clear). If AAPL comes out with something of a similar size, an equal if not faster processor (and perhaps a new layout for the iOS 7), they can easily recapture the market lost and crush that copycat.

Whatever ‘Apple Inc.’ does with iPhone 5S and or 6, it will decimate the ‘Droids’ and other ‘el cheapo’ imitations big time.

Seriously? Colored iPhones? Very tacky, nothing like the simple elegance we’ve always loved from Cupertino. Let windows users hv the garish colors, if I want color I’ll buy a case (as I’ve always done!)
As for an ip6 so soon after the release of the ip5? If its true, then shame on Tim!!!
