iPhone 6 rumours, apple, macworld australiaThose waiting for the next iPhone may have a date if iPhone 6 rumours are correct. According to Chinese media reports the next-generation smartphone will be announced by Apple on 15 September, and on sale to the public on 25 September.

Citing “inside sources”, the report (translation via GForGames) claims Apple will reveal two iPhone models, a 4.7in iPhone and a 5.5in iPhone model, which will be called the iPhone Air.

Apple traditionally releases devices on a Friday, and therefore a Thursday, 25 September launch would seem unlikely.

The report also believes to know the prices of two new models. A 16GB 5.5in iPhone will supposedly sell for 5,998 yuan ($1032), while the 32GB 4.7in model is rumoured to sell for 5,288 yuan ($910).

The current iPhone 5s range begins at $869 for a 16GB version, the 32GB model is $999 and the highest capacity option is $1129. With Apple’s current trend of introducing lower cost products, a 32GB iPhone could possibly sell for around $900. Especially if you consider the 32GB version of the midrange iPhone, the iPhone 5c, sells for $869.

Besides a larger display, the iPhone 6 models are rumoured to feature a slimmer profile, a new A8 processor, improvements to the camera and possibly a rounded design.
