Apple-Samsung-macworld-australia1The record-breaking launch weekend for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus has forced Samsung to speed up the release of its Galaxy Note 4. The news comes in the form of an official public statement from Samsung, as reported by Appleinsider.

The report states that the Galaxy Note 4 was initially slated for an October launch window. While the release dates across the US and other Western countries remains in mid-to-late October, Samsung has fast-tracked the South Korea and China release date to this Friday.

According to Appleinsider, a Samsung marketing executive said “The positive reaction from consumers to those two Apple devices prompted us to launch the Note 4 earlier than previously scheduled.”

This was seen to be necessary as Samsung were being “challenged and pressured amid a difficult situation.”

Appleinsider notes that this earlier release will allow it to beat the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus to market in those countries, as Apple has yet to release the new iPhones in South Korea or China.

The holdup in the sale of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in China is due to lack of regulatory approval from the Chinese government – reportedly set to be resolved soon.
