Apple’s next-generation iPhones will arrive in multiple colours, according to rumours, adding three new colours to the existing black/slate and white/silver designs available with the iPhone 5.

According to Japanese website, Macotakara, the rumoured cheaper iPhone will launch in five colours – however the colours weren’t specified in the report.

The article may be referring to the iPod touch, which launched in the second-half of last year, in a similar design to the iPhone 5, in five different colours.

The report also claims the Apple smartphone may be announced in July, with a August release. This timeline would fit with a Wall Street Journal rumour last week that claimed Apple will begin production of the smartphone in the coming months.

In an interview with the San Francisco ExaminerSan Francisco District Attorney George Gascón reported, after he met with Apple’s government liaison officer Michael Foulkes, that Apple’s 7th- and 8th-generation iPhones’ development was well underway before Tim Cook took over as the company’s CEO.
