Apple may be catching up with iPhone 5 pre-orders by shipping the new smartphones scheduled to be delivered in early October ahead of time.
A report from MacRumors confirms a number of customers are receiving shipment notifications, alerting them that their device will be delivered earlier than expected.
“We’ve received a number of tips that iPhone 5 pre-orders that were originally estimated to be delivered in early October are being shipped now with a delivery date of September 27th,” MacRumors said.

Apple’s sixth-generation iPhone’s first shipment sold out within the first hour of pre-orders opening, amassing two million pre-orders in the first 24 hours.
Hong Kong’s biggest Apple Store opened its doors early on Thursday for customers to reserve an iPhone 5 to be collected the following day. The store refused to serve walk-in customers due to limited stock and large demand.
