Apple’s rumoured 7in iPad ‘mini’ will look like a large iPod touch, with a number of differentiating features, including smaller side bezels in portrait mode, ccording to reports.

9to5Mac cites a number of reputable sources who “hold knowledge about Apple’s plans on the upcoming iPad mini”, claiming the new-version tablet will include a “separate volume buttons and not a ‘rocker’ and a mic on the back”, in addition to the smaller side bezels.

So confident of the information they had received, 9to5Mac commissioned a mockup of what the iPad mini will look like, in comparison to Google’s Nexus 7 tablet. See below:

While Apple has not confirmed plans to release a 7in iPad, an internal email thread was recently submitted as evidence in the Apple v Samsung patent trial, showing a discussion among Apple executives  Tim Cook, Phil Schiller, Scott Forstall and Eddy Cue discussing the idea of an iPad mini. In the email Apple Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue writes: “. I believe there will be a 7″ market and we should do one”.

What do you think – will Apple release an iPad mini? And, if so, what features would you like to see in the design? Let us know in the comments section below.
