iOS beats Android for ad impressions in Asia and globally

Apple’s iOS is responsible for the largest proportion of ad impressions globally. However, while in Europe and Asia iOS has is the strongest platform for ad impressions, in the US Android is in pole position.

iOS gains 45 percent while Android achieves 38 percent of ad impressions globally. Per device, the iPhone gains 38 percent of ad impressions and the iPad achieves 10 percent and the iPod touch has 4 percent. The rest line up as follows: Galaxy S2: 5 percent; Samsung I9000: 2 percent; Samsung Galxy Tab: 2 percent GT-S5830: 1 percent; Nokia E63: 1 percent; Nokia E71: 1 percent.

In Asia iOS accounts for 52 percent of impressions while Andorid has 36 percent. Broken down by device, the iPhone has 27 percent of ad impressions, while the iPad gets 9 percent and iPod touch is on 5 percent (just behind BlackBerry on 6 percent).

In the US Android leads with a 46 percent share, while iOS claims 42 percent, according to Adfonics Global Admetrics report, which you can read here.

The most popular source for ad impressions in Asia is News, Sport and Information with 33 percent. Followed by Games with 30 percent; Entertainment with 21 percent; Social Networking with 12 percent and last is Lifestyle with three percent.
