Following all of last week’s announcements, the first of several releases is now available. iOS 9 is available for download via Software Update.
On you iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and open the Settings app. Then go to General and tap on Software Update. After a few moments, you’ll have the option to download and install the update.
The size of the update will vary depending on your device. For our iPhone 6 it was 1GB (edit – and 1.5GB on our iPd Air 2) so this is an update to do from your WiFi connection unless you have a particularly hefty data allowance with your carrier.
iOS 9 includes lots of new features, including low power mode and the promise of about another hour of battery life. One feature we think is especially useful is that the new Software Update function will remove apps to make room for updates and then restore them.
Let us know what you think after you’ve upgraded to iOS 9.
