Apple has just released the first iOS 8.4 beta. This update includes an updated Music app, which offers a new user interface, Miniplayer and global search.

The update brings the overall look of the iOS Music app closer to the aesthetics of iTunes 12, but also includes features such as custom images and playlist descriptions, direct playback from the album list, an Up Next icon similar to that found in desktop iTunes, and additional global search capability that includes the ability to create your own iTunes Radio station for the first time.

The MiniPlayer allows immediate access to the Now Playing window and music controls. It’s located just above three main user interface icons for “My Music,” “Playlists” and “Radio”.

The My Music home screen has been revamped to include “Recently Added” albums at the top of a user’s music library. While browsing, users can start playing music directly from the album list.

The iOS 8.4 beta doesn’t include specific notes on anything new other than the Music app overhaul. More details about iOS 8.4 are expected during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in early June.
