Apple plans to issue iOS 5.0.2 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch very soon to address battery life issues, a report has claimed.

German website Macerkopf claims that Apple wants iOS 5.0.2 to provide the iPhone 4S with 40 hours of standby usage and 10 hours of active use.

Since the launch of the iPhone 4S, many users have complained about poor battery life. Apple last week issued iOS 5.0.1 to address the problem though some have complained that the issue still remains or in some cases has got worse. Owners of other iOS devices have also claimed that iOS 5 has made battery life worse.

Apple has acknowledged that some battery issues remain and said that it is working to fix the problem, so claims that iOS 5.0.2 is not far away are unsurprising. However, the report also contains some interesting claims about iOS 5.1, which will bring several changes to Siri, the voice-activated personal assistant on the iPhone 4S.

Apparently iPhone 4S owners will be able to control taking photographs, shooting video and turning Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on and off, the report says. However, Macerkopf reckons that iOS 5.1 might not be with us until the end of the year.

Have an iPad and iPad2. Don’t have any battery issues, but certain website “buttons” no longer work with iOS5. For example, on the drive.com.au website, if I search for a used car, I can no longer revise my search by using drop down buttons on the left hand side to further specify transmission or location. If I read a foreign newspaper using Google Translate, website buttons to see in depth articles no longer work, (and still do if website is left in the original language). Finally, my wife can no longer use her office’s web mail as the buttons she would use to respond to an email no longer work. Would be interested to know if others have had similar issues.
