… and, regarding possible new Apple TV hardware, it was just a rumour, it seems. Despite Mashable’s theories reported in last week’s Rumour Mill, Peter Kafka at the AllThingsD website is now claiming that is not actually the case. “Despite speculation about new Apple TV hardware on the way, Apple won’t be unveiling any new boxes next week, according to people familiar with the company’s plans,” says the website.

But AllThingsD doesn’t want us to be too disappointed. There may be no updates to Apple TV hardware, but what there will be is tweaked software in the web TV box and Apple’s new iTunes radio service.

Also expected is a feature that will allow people who have bought content from Apple to easily play that content on Apple TVs belonging to other users. This will be made possible with the AirPlay system, Apple’s server and a little bit of nifty direction from your iPhone.
