Google Australia has opened registrations for its first week-long developer event. Running from 28 June to 2 July, DevFest AU dedicates each day of its program to a particular area – Wave, Apps, Chrome, Social, and Geo.

“Australian software developers are creative, ambitious, and technically savvy,” says Alan Noble, head of engineering at Google Australia. “We’re excited to get more of our tools in their hands, and then stand back and see what cutting edge products and services they will develop – for Australians and for a global audience.”

Developers will get to play with Google’s latest APIs, build apps, get into the latest open-sourced code from Google, and hack away. Speakers at the event include local Google staff, as well as experts from the US.

The event is free, and interested developers can sign up here.
