A new tranche of Apple computers, including updated MacBook Air and Mac Pro models, are expected to be released along with the latest Mac operating system, OS X Lion.

Macworld Australia received an anonymous tip indicating that Apple stores would be preparing for the new products’ launch overnight on Thursday, a claim that’s in line with reports on the web.

9to5Mac is reporting that four new models of the slim MacBook Air will be released this week, in two 11 and 13in models respectively. No cosmetic changes are expected in this update, but faster performance via new Intel Sandy Bridge processors and super-fast Thunderbolt connectivity is almost certain.

The new line of Mac Pros, however, will feature a redesigned enclosure that’s both narrower and rack-mountable. 9to5 is claiming that along with the obvious addition of Thunderbolt, a 16-core model is also a strong possibility.

And, of course, all the new models will come fully-loaded with Mac OS X Lion, which is expected to go on sale over the Mac App Store on Friday morning. Clear your diary, back up your Mac and get ready!
