Cult Of Mac reports that the feature was spotted by a thankful developer, who posted on Reddit: “Finally! iOS 6b3 doesn’t ask for a password when downloading a FREE app!”
iOS beta 1, which was released to developers in June, revealed that iOS users would no longer need to enter their iTunes password to download a previous purchased app from the App Store or when downloading updates. Apple appears to have expanded this feature to include free apps.
At present, it is not known whether the new function will be brought to users when the final version of iOS 6 is released to the public in spring, but it could be a welcome revision for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch owners.
