We all knew it was going to happen sooner or later: Flight Control is coming to the Mac. But local developer Firemint isn’t waiting around for the Mac App Store to get its hugely successful game onto our desktops and notebooks. Instead, Flight Control HD will be available via Steam, making it accessible to both Mac and PC users at the same time.
Firemint has also announced that a Mac App Store version will be coming, but if you can’t wait until some time early next year when the App Store launches, the Steam version will be available within the next few weeks. With Flight Control adaptations currently on iPhone, iPad, Nintendo DSi, PS3, Windows Phone 7 and an Android version due soon, the addition of PC and Mac versions through Steam means the Aussie game is available on nearly every possible platform. Not only that, but the original iPhone version has been downloaded a massive three million times.
The Steam version promises new gameplay, with a ‘Stunt Flying’ map where players can score extra points by navigating planes through a stunt course before touching down. It will also feature Steam achievements and leaderboards, and will be available Mac and PC gamers worldwide.
